For each game, the console needs to be restarted, it then sends a message to the two badges to indicate that the console is ready to receive messages.  Next, each player selects their Hogwarts house using their badge. When they have selected, the house information is sent to the console and the player’s chosen house is represented through LEDs that light up to the corresponding color to the house selected.  These LEDs remain lit for the entire time the game is in progress.

The control center receives scoring information from the badges through the XBee communicators. When one player has successfully hit their opponent’s badge with a spell, they score a number of points depending on the type of spell they cast. Scores are transmitted to and computed by the Arduino and shown on an LCD screen.
